INTRODUCING
Invisalign® G8 with SmartForce aligner activation.
Improves predictability1 so you can be even more confident of delivering great clinical outcomes efficiently.
With Invisalign G8, SmartForce technology is even smarter.
SmartForce aligner activation specifically contours select areas on the aligner’s surface to create strategic contact areas on the tooth surface. This provides improved clinical predictability for the challenges doctors encounter most frequently.
Improvements to predictability in deep bite correction
Anterior intrusion solution with SmartForce aligner activation
Improvements to leveling of the curve of spee
Automatic placement of precision bite ramps for lower anterior intrusion
Improvements to predictability in moderate/severe crowding and cross bite cases
Posterior arch expansion solution with SmartForce optimized attachments & aligner activation
Reduction in the likelihood of posterior open bite (POB)
Invisalign G8 is the only clear aligner system with the advantage of SmartForce aligner activation.
What is SmartForce aligner activation?
Select areas on the aligner surfaces are specifically contoured to apply forces to the tooth surface in the proper direction to produce the desired movement and minimize unwanted movements.
SmartForce™ aligner activation further improves predictability so you can be even more confident of delivering great clinical outcomes efficiently. SmartForce aligner activation improves predictability for the challenges you encounter most frequently - deep bite correction, posterior arch expansion in crowding and cross bite cases, and prevention of posterior open bite.
Works synergistically with previously introduced SmartForce features.
Gain a clinical edge with Invisalign’s proprietary innovations.
SmartForce aligner activation builds on Invisalign aligner's force-driven system to ensure the optimal amount of force is applied to each tooth.
Dr. Sandra Tai discusses SmartForce aligner activation and how it can provide more predictable1 clinical results for the challenges doctors encounter most.
Invisalign G8 provides more predictable deep bite correction.
Up to 2x improvement in clinical predictability of incisor intrusion.2
Intrusion force levels are optimized for each tooth.
Automatic placement of precision bite ramps – clinically proven to improve lower incisor intrusion by up to 30%.3
Invisalign G8 is designed to deliver more predictable posterior arch expansion.
SmartForce aligner activation is automatically programmed to apply and distribute the required force to each posterior tooth.
It is also designed to minimize unwanted molar tipping by automatically applying buccal root torque to the premolars and first molars.
Invisalign G8 reduces the likelihood of posterior open bite.
Provides more predictable anterior intrusion, which may reduce premature anterior contacts.
Controls unwanted buccal crown torque/tip during expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Invisalign G8 with SmartForce aligner activation?
Invisalign G8 with SmartForce aligner activation is the newest series of biomechanical innovations for Invisalign treatment informed by tooth movements from millions of patients treated with Invisalign clear aligners. The solution focuses on improving deep bite, crowding, and cross bite cases. These cases are improved by adding the aligner activation feature to aide in anterior intrusion for deep bite cases and posterior arch expansion for crowding and cross bite cases.
What is SmartForce aligner activation?
SmartForce aligner activation further improves predictability so you can be even more confident of delivering great clinical outcomes efficiently. SmartForce aligner activation improves predictability for the challenges you encounter most frequently - deep bite correction, posterior arch expansion in crowding and cross bite cases, and prevention of posterior open bite.4
Is Invisalign G8 a force-driven system or a displacement driven system?
Invisalign G8 is a force-driven system.
What are the major differences between a force driven system and a displacement driven system?
In a force-driven system, the aligner is shaped so that when inserted, it stretches and applies the desired forces to the surface of the tooth, resulting in the desired tooth movement. In a displacement-driven system, the tooth position is fabricated in the aligner and the tooth moves (is displaced) to that next position.
What Invisalign products will have SmartForce aligner activation?
SmartForce aligner activation will be applied across all of our aligner products going forward. Aligner activation was introduced previously in limited applications with Invisalign G6, G7 and Invisalign First. Invisalign G8 is the first time that aligner activation will be broadly applied to treat some of the most prevalent movements and malocclusions.
What are the criteria for having Invisalign G8 features applied to a case?
Invisalign G8 features will be added based upon triggers including correction of crowding, crossbite, or deep bite issues. There is no additional work or change in doctor workflow required to get Invisalign G8 features.
How will I know that Invisalign G8 with SmartForce aligner activation has been added to a case in the ClinCheck® software?
SmartForce aligner activation is highlighted in blue on premolars and molars in the tooth movement table, with optimised expansion support attachments present in posteriors. Also, a treatment overview chart can be seen, which mentions smart force aligner activation being present as a unit.
